Friends,
I have exciting news to share. My second MindShifting book, Conflict and Collaboration: MindShifting With Mitch (Volume 3), will be released on November 1, 2025. Writing this book has been a journey filled with reflection, stories, and insights—and I can’t wait to get it into your hands.
Building on My First Book
When I published MindShifting: Stop Your Brain from Sabotaging Your Happiness and Success, I wanted to tackle a problem I saw everywhere: the way our own thoughts and instincts can quietly trip us up. That book explored how our brains are wired for survival in ways that often hold us back from thriving.
I introduced practical tools to break out of those traps. For example, the “Perhaps I Can” exercise helps us move past limiting beliefs by reframing self-talk from “I can’t” to “Perhaps I can.” Another, the Pause–Breathe–Shift technique, gives us a way to interrupt knee-jerk reactions and choose a more resourceful state instead of spiraling into fight-or-flight mode.
Readers told me that exercises like these gave them something tangible to grab onto in moments of stress—that they finally had a way to catch themselves in the act of self-sabotage and steer in a better direction. That response convinced me the framework was worth taking further.
Why Conflict and Collaboration?
I taught the MindShifting: Conflict and Collaboration course twice in the last year. The reactions from participants in those courses convinced me that the time for learning this material is now. Have we ever felt more torn by conflicts? Aren’t we being worn down by divisiveness? Don’t we even feel it in relationships with family, work, schools, society, friends, and former friends?
If the first book was about gaining mastery over our internal mindsets, this second book turns to external application: applying those shifts to our relationships with others.
Conflict is unavoidable. It shows up at work, in families, in communities, and in society at large. Most of us aren’t taught to handle it well. We either avoid it, let it escalate, or paper over it with false harmony.
But conflict doesn’t have to mean division. In fact, it can be a doorway to deeper understanding and stronger collaboration—if we learn how to shift our mindsets.
Conflict and Collaboration explores how to:
- Recognize the unhelpful mental patterns that surface in moments of disagreement.
- Pause and choose more constructive responses in the moment.
- Transform conflict into opportunities for connection, problem-solving, and innovation.
- Build collaborative cultures where healthy disagreement is not only tolerated but encouraged.
- Show everyone else that you are right and if they still disagree with you, they are wrong. (Oops, nope. This is not in the book.)
Why ‘Volume 3’?
Conflict even reaches the naming of this book. I wanted to name this book Volume 3, because it follows the content from the third course. Most of my friends and advisors felt it should be named Volume 2, because of it’s the second book.
How did we resolve this? From Sage (which you learn about in the first book), I understood this to be a Complicated situation (which you learn about in the second course), so I used the Compete conflict resolution style (which you learn about in this book) and made the decision.
Yes…this is only my second book on MindShifting. But I have always envisioned the full MindShifting framework having three key elements: Resourcefulness, Resilience and Collaboration. These are the core elements of the three respective course that I teach, and I always planned to write three corresponding books.
The first book dealt largely with concepts related to Resourcefulness (recognizing when your brain is getting in your way and having the awareness and flexibility to shift into a mindset that opens new options).
While the second book was originally going to cover Resilience (staying adaptable and persistent, even when challenges or failures feel overwhelming), it seemed to me that what the world needs more than anything, right now, are lessons in Collaboration (forward movement through differences — learning how to work with others even when there’s disagreement or tension).
And, while I could simply have called this book ‘Volume 2,’ the truth is that the logical order of the books, in the larger picture, is Resourcefulness, Resilience and Collaboration. And, once all three are written, I want them to stand together that way. So, I have jumped the line and gone directly from ‘Volume 1’ to ‘Volume 3,’ though I promise to circle back, very soon and deliver ‘Volume 2.’ (I hope that clears it up.)
I may be wrong, I may be right. It may not matter. But we can move on to more important issues than the volume number.
The Bigger Goal
As with everything MindShifting, this isn’t just about a book. It’s about a movement. My mission is to share the MindShifting framework with 5 million people—because I believe the ability to shift mindsets, especially in the midst of conflict, is one of the most valuable skills we can develop as individuals, teams, and communities.
Books are part of that journey. So are conversations, blog posts, courses, and speaking engagements. But most importantly, it’s about people—like you—who believe in the power of change and want to help spread it.
Join the Launch Team
To make this book launch a success, I’ll be assembling a Book Launch Team of MindShifting enthusiasts. Launch team members will get early access to the book, behind-the-scenes updates, and the chance to play a meaningful role in sharing this work with the world.
I’ll share more details on how to join the team next week, so stay tuned. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of bringing a book to life—and helping it reach the readers who need it most—this is your chance.
I’m deeply grateful for your continued support, and I can’t wait to share more in the weeks ahead. November 1 will be here before we know it.
With gratitude and excitement,
Mitch Weisburgh
